We're Going Up to the High Places

'We're Going Up to the High Places' was written by Ron Kenoly and is brilliantly combined with 'Whose Report Shall You Believe' by Becky Fender and the song 'Call Him Up' by Ricky Grundy and Herman Netter. These three songs are positioned to tell a spiritual story that moves people from the act of warfare to the celebration of victory. 'We're Going Up to the High Places' is ONE of the songs released from a Hosanna! Integrity Music project entitled 'Lift Him Up' and was recorded at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, Virginia with Worship Leader Ron Kenoly and was Produced and Orchestrated by Tom Brooks. 'We're Going Up to the High Places' makes extensive use of biblical topics of spiritual warfare such as Ephesians 6:12 that states Christian struggle is not against human beings, but against unseen, organized spiritual forces of evil. Its main message is a declaration of victory and reclaiming ground: "We've been deceived by the devil too long...We're gonna pull down the altars, we're gonna tear down the walls, we're gonna raise up the banner of righteousness and declare that Jesus is Lord of all". The song 'Whose Report Shall You Believe' acts as the swift breakthrough following the battle. It shifts the focus from fighting the enemy to standing on God's promises. The repetitive, rhythmic declaration ("His report says I am healed...filled...free...victory!") provides the solid, biblical justification for why the high places were successfully taken. The final song 'Call Him Up' is pure, unbridled rejoicing! Once the battle is won and the report is believed, the only thing left to do is praise. It shifts the atmosphere from a warfare posture to a joyous dance.
