Lisa Dodd Watts — Life on the Road, Vinyl Hampdin & the Joy of Music

Lisa Dodd Watts — Life on the Road, Vinyl Hampdin & the Joy of Music What happens when a world-class bassist, a powerhouse vocalist, and an old friend stop by the WIESTWORLD front porch? One unforgettable conversation! On this episode of You Dig?, Steve Wiest welcomes multiple CCMA award-winning bassist and vocalist Lisa Dodd Watts, whose musical adventures have taken her from the Canadian country circuit to the stage with Gord Bamford—and into Steve's own horn-driven rock ensemble, Vinyl Hampdin. Lisa talks candidly about the realities of life on the road, her early musical influences, the development of her unmistakable singing voice, and the experiences that taught her how to survive and thrive in the music business. One especially touching story involves fellow Canadian singer Eli Barsi, whose kindness helped Lisa rediscover her love of performing after a difficult period away from music. There are plenty of laughs, too: mountain goats in Alberta, touring-bus survival tips, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, favorite recordings, motorcycles, and some wonderfully unexpected answers to The Dig You Inquisition. And just when things couldn't get more entertaining, guitarist Ryan Davidson and Lisa's husband, drummer and sound engineer Sean Watts, drop by for surprise appearances! It's a warm, funny, occasionally outrageous celebration of musicianship, friendship, and a life devoted to making music. You Dig? with Steve Wiest — conversations with extraordinary people from across the musical universe. _____________ Links from today's episode: Lisa's Site: https://www.lisadodd.com/home.html Gord Bamford: https://gordbamford.com/ Vinyl Hampdin Videos and Music: / @vinylhampdin Eli Barsi https://www.elibarsi.com/ Chris Stapleton: https://chrisstapleton.com/ Chris Stapleton: Parachute • Chris Stapleton Performs “Parachute” at 20...
