Augustine’s “Ordo Amoris”: Are Your Loves in the Right Order? (Guest Alex Kocman)

What do we love—and are we loving those things in the proper order? In this installment of the YourCalvinist Podcast Reformation Series 2026, Keith Foskey sits down with Alex Kocman to discuss Augustine and the concept of Ordo Amoris (the "order of love"). Augustine understood that the problem with the human heart is not simply that we fail to love, but that our loves can become disordered. We can love good things too much, greater things too little, and created things above the Creator. The Christian life, therefore, involves learning to love what God loves and to value things according to their proper place.Keith and Alex discuss Augustine's understanding of rightly ordered love, how it fits within his broader theology, and why this ancient idea continues to have profound implications for Christians today. To learn about Alex and get his book, visit his website:https://alexkocman.com Support the Show: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/Yourcalvi...https://www.Page50.com/YourCalvinistPage50 is a Marketing Company that is committed to helping you build your brand with truth, goodness, and beauty.
