I’m making my case for why Mark-Francis is reality-TV royalty, why having a gay man in the Housewives-style ensemble is absolute genius, Lady Martha Sitwell’s devotion to her smokes, and Kimi’s bone-dry fabulosity. Then we’re diving into Season One of The Real Housewives of London. I’m professing my love for Amanda Cronin, whose fabulousness comes with an almost operatic intensity of sadness; clocking Juliet Angus as a professional reality-TV star who knows exactly which buttons to push; and explaining why Panthea Parker might just be this franchise’s very own Ramona Singer—and, frankly, one of the best things about the show. Meanwhile, Juliet Mayhew is quickly losing me, and darlings, I can pinpoint the exact moment: the foie gras. Sometimes all it takes is one order to tell you everything you need to know. Karen is rich and fabulous but still waiting for her bitch flower to bloom, and Nessie? Darling, I’m still waiting for something… though it looks like Season Two might finally deliver.
