To Love Your Neighbor Is To Refuse To Harm Them

Love sounds simple until you try to live it in a world trained by anxiety, scarcity, and power. We start with a warm welcome to everyone joining in person and online, then step into the Season of Creation with a vivid image: broken pottery restored with gold. It becomes a spiritual blueprint for restoration, because most of us assume we must gather every missing piece before God can heal us. We push back on that fear and invite you to bring what you have, trusting God to do what you cannot, and to create beauty right through the cracks.  From there we move into scripture and a clear challenge about money, generosity, and good works that flow from grace rather than guilt. We connect Jesus’ invitation to look at birds and flowers with practical mental health and a remedy for modern anxiety, then read Romans as a revolutionary call within an oppressive empire: “Owe nothing to anyone except your obligation to love one another.” That line collapses hierarchy, replaces rule-keeping with one command, and forces the question of what love looks like when it has to become action, listening, and change.  We talk about how love does no harm, why the Holy Spirit teaches us to hear what we could not understand before, and how repentance is often a real change of mind that may include therapy and new patterns of thought. We also tackle greed, ethical consumption, local support, and the lie of scarcity, with stories that make the point unforgettable. We end at the communion table where Jesus’ way stands against violence and domination, offering forgiveness, peace, and the call to go back into the world broken, blessed, and given.
