Beyond the Algorithm: Eric Weiner on Building Real Connections in Music

On this episode of Music Matters with Darrell Craig Harris, we sit down with Eric Weiner, founder and CEO of The Wild Honey Pie, to talk about building meaningful connections between artists and their fans. Since launching The Wild Honey Pie in 2009, Eric has grown it from an influential indie music blog into a creative studio bringing artists, chefs, brands, and super fans together through intimate experiences, live performance videos, music videos, and cultural collaborations. Eric shares why he believes the music industry has become too focused on algorithms, impressions, and quick transactions—and how thoughtful curation and experiences people genuinely love can help artists and brands build lasting communities. We also discuss music discovery, artist development, and a future shaped by deeper relationships rather than fleeting attention.
