What does International Vlogging Day mean in 2026?

On International Vlogging Day, I decided to record a single-take, unedited vlog after spotting the day in my calendar, because it reminded me of the early era of regular, raw video blogging. I reflect on how “vlogging” has drifted toward polished video podcasting, and why I still see podcasts as audio-first, echoing James Cridland’s line that "a podcast is for your ears while your eyes are busy". I share a chat with a friend who wants to document their move to Greece with podcasts about renovating their property and exploring food and restaurants, but prefers video without showing their face. That led me to a personal frustration: after 10+ years of public speaking, I still don’t have much video evidence of my talks for conference applications, so I’m thinking about better ways to capture and share those sessions.
