Deepen with Pastor Joby Martin

The Great Commission is not just a command for the church. It is a calling for every follower of Jesus. In Matthew 28:18–20, Jesus commands His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. But what does it actually mean to make disciples, and are we living in obedience to that calling? In this episode of the Deepen Podcast, Pastor Joby Martin and Pastor Ryan Britt unpack the Great Commission and the heart behind Neighbors to Nations, The Church of Eleven22's two-year discipleship journey. From the difference between being a fan of Jesus and a true follower to the importance of evangelism, obedience and biblical discipleship, this conversation challenges us to move beyond simply knowing God's Word to living it out. Through personal stories from the mission field, they explore why making disciples is not just about reaching others but also about deepening our own dependence on Christ. Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and on earth, and He promises to be with us as we carry out His mission. We are not called to make disciples through our own strength, but to faithfully declare and demonstrate the gospel as God works through us. The question is not whether you have a role in the Great Commission, but whether you are willing to surrender and obey. 📖 Scripture References:- Matthew 28:16–20- Genesis 12:1–3- Acts 1:8- 1 Corinthians 11:1- Revelation 7:9- Matthew 24:14- Matthew 25 📌 Supplemental Resources From This Week:• Sermon•Neighbors to Nations Vision Intro• This Week’s Full Service• Matthew Season 8 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. Why does the resurrection of Jesus matter, and what does the empty tomb mean for our faith today? In this episode of Deepen, Pastor Joby Martin, Pastor Jonathan Vinke, and Pastor Matt explore Matthew 28 and the historical, spiritual, and eternal significance of Jesus' resurrection. From the evidence surrounding the empty tomb to the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, we unpack why the resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith. Through the eyewitness accounts, the transformation of the early church, and the promises fulfilled through Christ, we are reminded that the gospel is not simply about Jesus' death, but His victory over sin and death. We also discuss the difference between believing that Jesus rose from the dead and placing our faith in Him, the importance of living with both reverence and joy, and what it means to follow a risen Savior. Because Jesus is alive, we can trust His promises, walk in freedom, and live with the hope of eternal life. 📖 Scripture References: - Matthew 28- Mark 16- Luke 24- John 20–21- Acts 1–4- Romans 6:23- Colossians 1:18- Psalm 22- Isaiah 53- Genesis 12:1–3- Philippians 4:6–7 📌 Supplemental Resources From This Week:• Sermon• Grace's Story• This Week’s Full Service• Matthew Season 7 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. What does it really mean to surrender your life to Jesus, and is following Him worth the cost? As we continue through Matthew 27, Pastor Joby Martin, Pastor Ryan Britt and Pastor Jonathan Vinke unpack the trial and crucifixion of Jesus, examining the choices of Pilate, Peter and Judas. Each faced a defining moment, reminding us that knowing about Jesus is not the same as surrendering to Him. Through Peter's denial and restoration, we see that failure does not have to be final. Through Pilate's fear of losing control, we are challenged to consider what we are willing to surrender to follow Christ. And through the cross, we are reminded that Jesus took our place so that we could experience true freedom and eternal life. The question remains: What will you do with the One called Christ? 📖 Scripture References:- Matthew 26–27- Mark 15:15- John 10- John 21- Daniel 7- Psalm 95–98- Philippians 1:6- Philippians 2:17- Romans 7–8- Romans 6:23- 1 Corinthians 15- Deuteronomy 6:4–5- Luke 2:52- 2 Peter 1:3- Acts 4- 2 Timothy 4:1–8- Hebrews 12:1–2- Psalm 27:4 📌 Supplemental Resources From This Week:• Sermon• This Week’s Full Service • Matthew Season 7 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ.
