By the summer of 1998, Irene Silverman was becoming increasingly uneasy about her new tenant.Manny Guerin had only been a tenant for a few days when he started making her uncomfortable. He would avoid her eyes when they passed, slink around the edges of the lobby to stay out of range of the security camera, and he seemed to be sneaking an older woman into his apartment.Irene noticed it all, and she wanted him gone. She asked her building manager to draw up the eviction notice.But on July 5th, Irene disappeared. And there was only one suspect. Investigators moved in quickly, releasing a sketch of Manny Guerin to the public. What they quickly learned is that Manny might not have been his real name after all. Instead, they already had in custody a man named Kenneth Kimes and his mother, Sante Kimes.Just as quickly, they'd learn who they were dealing with: a pair of grifters who had been conducting increasingly violent crimes as they crossed the country.
