"Listen" Architect, sculptor, painter, musician, thinker and sartorial enthusiast Barry Svigals is primarily a listener.  Why? Because “It’s how we determine what is needed.”  You must “Create a space where what’s needed may appear.”  A potent example is Barry’s redesign of Sandy Hook School in Newton CT following its unspeakable school shooting. Instead of shutting himself away and designing a veritable super-max fortress of iron bars, metal detectors and razor wire in the name of school safety, Barry simply sat back and listened. He listened to the survivors.  He listened their parents.  He listened to the students.  The teachers.  The janitors.  The administration staff.  The neighbors… Everyone in and around the community with a connection to the school. The result? Definitely not a fortress but a paradigm shift in the idea of "school safety." Do yourself a favor and google the new Sandy Hook Elementary school because nothing we can say here will do it justice. Suffice it to say: It is what was needed. “You always bet on yourself! Who else is going to bet on you?!?” Who can argue with that wise motivation from our next guest, actor/director/writer Joe Lo Truglio? You know Joe from tons of stuff like “The State,” “Reno 911,” and of course NBC’s “Brooklyn 99.” Joe recently wrote and directed “Outpost” a horror movie set on a mountain outpost in Idaho. Radio Zamunda’s own Ato had a role in this film and had such a fantastic time working with Joe that he had to drag Joe on to rap about it. Such a great conversation. Jordana and Sean Williams (a director and an actor/musician/audio engineer respectively) are two of the creative forces behind Gideon Media, a production company focused on crafting riveting science-fiction and horror stories for the audio drama space. Their current project is the binge-worthy science-fiction podcast “Give Me Away” (written by past Radio Zamunda guest Mac Rogers). All we can say is that you need get that ‘ish in your earholes right now. Oh and when you listen, you may even recognize the voice of Radio Zamunda’s own Ato! We got a treat for ya.  Episode one OG guest; filmmaker, actor, musician and producer Skinner Myers is back and he's anything but asleep.  Oh and by the way, he can now add "professor" to his list of achievements as he's now teaching cinema studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Skinner is currently touring the film festival circuit with his new film "The Sleeping Negro." We're not going to bother describing the plot nor the process of making "The Sleeping Negro" because it won't come close to hearing Skinner tell it... Look there's no other way to say this so we'll just cut to the chase... Skinner is a genius.  His talents are prodigious.  His work is muscular and merciless.  Skinner doesn't look to please.  He looks to cajole, challenge and activate his audiences.
