This Christmas sermon invites us to see Jesus not just as a source of light, but as the Light of the world. Like light breaking into a dark room, He reveals what we cannot see on our own. And just as John the Baptist pointed others to the Light, we are called to bear witness, not to be the Light ourselves. This Christmas, reflect on Christ the Light—and how our lives can point others to believe in Him.

We finish the story of Ruth right at Christmas time. Her story points us straight to Jesus. It shows us that Jesus doesn’t just want to save us from sin, He also wants a close, loving relationship with us. Even when people feel broken or beyond hope, God can bring them close to Himself. Just as God redeemed Naomi through the birth of Ruth’s son, He brings us into a right relationship with Him through His only Son, Jesus. Immanuel. God with us. The question is: will we surrender our lives to Him?

Continuing in Ruth 4, Boaz shows us a Redeemer who holds nothing back—paying whatever it takes to make Ruth his own. Likewise, the Cross of Jesus shows that He not only forgives our sin, but has the power to take our brokenness, losses, and failures and transform them for His glory. Whatever we’ve done...whatever’s been done to us, redemption becomes real when we come to Jesus in surrender. Will we trust His grace?

In Ruth 4, we see a Redeemer for whom no price is too great. Boaz steps in where others refuse or are unable to pay it, willingly covering the full cost to bring Ruth into his family. This costly love points us to Christ, our own Redeemer, who held back nothing (not even His own life) to bring us into His family. Will we rest in the truth that our salvation is never too costly for Him?

As we enter Advent, this message invites us to prepare more than our homes for Christmas—it's a call to prepare our hearts. Through the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3, we discover the radical, world-embracing love of God and the true hope Christ brings into weary and waiting lives. Join us as we explore how the Father’s love and the Savior’s coming reshape our expectations, renew our hope, and empower us to share His love in this season and beyond.
