<p>Is the word "marijuana" racist? Some say it is. Some say it isn't. Who's right? </p><p>Should we ditch marijuana altogether and just use the Greek and Latin derived "cannabis" instead? Or is that cultural erasure?</p><p>And what's up with <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_J._Anslinger" target="_blank">Harry Anslinger</a>, the first federal drug czar? He's often cited as the racist bureaucrat who weaponized and racialized marijuana the word <em>and</em> the plant at the expense of Black and Brown communities.
