Episode 187
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:14, John 1:12-13)
Our deepest desire here at the Removing Barriers Podcast is to remove those barriers that keep us from having a clear view of the cross. The enemy is hard at work with diversions, distractions, lies, and traps to keep us from the truth. So today, let us go back to the beginning, back to the first Christmas in Bethlehem, where the God of the universe abased Himself to become a baby in a manger. We have two special little guests in this episode to help us read the historical account of Jesus' birth, so join us as we worship the King and give thanks for His salvation. Merry Christmas to you, and may God grant you a blessed 2025.

"Nobody does guns like the U.S. does guns." -Aristotle, probably.
We don't need a bad meme to know that of all the nations on earth, the United States is the only one with the right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the law of the land with absolutely no restrictions. There are more guns than people in the U.S., and the number of gun owners in any other nation pales in comparison. But the United States is also in significant moral decline, and the absolute tragedy of preventable gun violence is a harrowing reality that demands attention. What that attention should be, however, is hotly contested with no real resolution in sight. Though the problem is complex and multi-faceted, one area seems to be gaining steam, namely, the prosecution of parents for gun violence committed by their children. Whether for a school shooting or a single person attack, parents have been indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced for a crime they did not commit. Is this right? Should parents be responsible for major crimes their children commit? In what ways are parents responsible for the safety of their children and others when it comes to firearms? On this episode of the Removing Barriers, we sit down with gun expert and enthusiast Michael Jordan (of no relation to THEE Michael Jordan) to discuss the these questions, as well as role and impact society has in this matter.

It is no surprise that the institution of marriage is under attack in the West. This is not new, and for many decades now, the biblical tenets of marriage have been questioned, disregarded, eroded, and in some cases, destroyed or forgotten. Divorce lawyers, having made a living off the dissolution of marriage, have now taken to social media to add to the attack, under the guise of "real talk" or helping clients with "reality." How did we get here? What does the Bible say about marriage and how should we regard it? Talk about it? Consider it? Enter it? Maintain it? Is there ever a scenario in which we should end it? In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, recurring guest Pastor Todd takes the time to explain what biblical marriage is and what God says about it. Is it egalitarian or complementarian? Can it be whatever we want it to be, or has God declared the nature of it in His Word? Furthermore, is that word still applicable in 2024? Join us as we both remember and discover the truth of this foundational institution, and what we can do today to uphold it.

The King James Bible, first published in 1611, has long been revered for its majestic prose and perceived accuracy. But what makes it stand out in our modern world of shifting norms and the new bible translations to suit them? In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast, we interview recurring guest Shawn Henly of Cross Crusaders about the KJV Bible and why many Christians choose it to the exclusion of all other Bible versions. Shawn Henly is a staunch advocate for the KJV, that it is God's perfectly preserved word for English-speaking people. He argues that while translations are not inspired, the KJV's source manuscripts (the Textus Receptus and the Masoretic Text) are the most faithful representations of the original biblical texts. Discover the history, myths, and controversies surrounding the KJV, and why some believe it to be the ultimate English translation. You won't want to miss this episode!
