With respect to placing the responsibility for hastening the Redemption upon every Jew, there is no difficulty from the story of Hoshea ben Elah. The Gemara states that although Hoshea ben Elah removed the restrictions that previously prevented the ten tribes from making the trip to Yerushalayim, he was <strong>punished, </strong>“inasmuch as there was no one preventing them, and [still] they did not go up,” that is, he “removed the chain of culpability” from himself and placed it upon the people. But here, we are not talking about “placing a chain of culpability,” but simply <strong>urging </strong>and<strong> </strong>bringing attention to the concept that the coming of the Redemption depends only upon <strong>one deed, word, or thought</strong>; this is<strong> </strong>a concept that appears in <em>seforim</em> <strong> </strong>and<strong> </strong>it<strong> </strong>is clear that there are people who are able to do it. From the Gemara’s discussion at the conclusion of Masechta Sotah, it is clear that when it says that “All the <em>kitzin</em> have passed, and the matter depends only upon teshuvah,” it is referring to <strong>these moments</strong>, and we cannot postpone the <em>ketz</em> any longer.
