Ep. 72: When You Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything

In this solo episode, Jen Dugard opens up about those days,  the ones where you don’t feel motivated, productive, or inspired. The days when showing up for your clients or your business feels heavy, even though you care deeply about what you do.

If you’re a trainer working with mums (or want to be the go-to trainer in your community), this episode is for you. Jen explores why “I don’t feel like doing anything” days are completely normal, the three main ways they tend to show up for trainers, and how to move through them with kindness and clarity.

Drawing from her own experience, from building Body Beyond Baby to creating Safe Return to Exercise and MumSafe™, Jen shares what nearly two decades in the industry have taught her about motivation, mindset, and building a sustainable business that supports your life, not drains it.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why “off days” don’t mean you’re failing and why they’re actually part of sustainable growth
  • The three types of days trainers commonly experience: overwhelmed, disheartened, and lost
  • How to recognise which one you’re in and what to do next
  • Practical ways to regulate, reset, and refocus without burning out
  • The “power of three” method to simplify your to-do list and move forward gently
  • How to use structure, support, and community to stay consistent — even when motivation fades

Key Takeaway

Your business isn’t built on motivation.
It’s built on clear foundations, small consistent actions, and community support that carries you on the hard days.

Episode Highlights

  • The “47 tabs open” overwhelmed day, when you’re busy but not productive
  • The disheartened day, when you’re doing the work but it feels like nothing’s moving
  • The lost day, when you have time but no clear direction
  • How to name what kind of day you’re having and release the guilt
  • The Power of Three: the simplest tool to bring focus back to your day
  • Why community and connection matter most when you feel like pulling away
  • How MumSafe™ provides the structure and support to keep going through it all

Ep 71. Exercising Through Breast Cancer, Pelvic Health & Preventative Women’s Health with Exercise Physiologist Anna-Louise Moule

In this insightful episode of the MumSafe™ Podcast, Jen Dugard sits down with Exercise Physiologist and clinic founder Anna-Louise Moule, whose career has been dedicated to women’s health and cancer care for over a decade.

Anna-Louise shares her clinical expertise across breast cancer treatment, persistent pelvic pain, hypermobility, and postpartum recovery, while also offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at how she built and leads a thriving multidisciplinary clinic.
This conversation spans everything from strength training during cancer treatment to the hormonal overlap between postpartum and perimenopause, and the critical role of preventative care across a woman’s lifespan.

Perfect for exercise professionals, EPs, physios, and anyone passionate about creating safer, more informed support for women.

Highlights:

  • How exercise guidelines for breast cancer have evolved, from “rest” to targeted, higher-intensity strength training
  • How to safely support clients through fatigue, chemo side effects, and immunocompromise
  • Understanding low-estrogen states (breastfeeding, treatment-induced menopause, perimenopause) and their impact on pelvic floor capacity
  • Why postpartum and perimenopause programming share more overlap than we think
  • The importance of training to the “weakest link” across complex health presentations
  • How early postpartum care changes long-term women’s health outcomes
  • What trainers should ask when screening women with persistent pelvic pain
  • How oncology EPs, pelvic health physios, and trainers can collaborate for better client outcomes
  • Anna-Louise’s transition from solo EP to multidisciplinary clinic owner
  • The real challenges of leadership: boundaries, finances, hiring and navigating maternity leave
  • Why preventative care, not reactive treatment, is the future of women’s health
  • The value of MumSafe™ education for EPs and why collaboration beats turf wars

Key Takeaway:

Women’s health is interconnected. Whether a woman is navigating cancer treatment, postpartum recovery or perimenopause, movement is medicine and when professionals collaborate across disciplines, we give women the preventative care, strength and confidence they deserve.

Ep 70. Understanding C-Section Healing & Supporting Postpartum Women with Clinical Myotherapist Madelaine Longrigg
NOV 23, 2025
Ep 70. Understanding C-Section Healing & Supporting Postpartum Women with Clinical Myotherapist Madelaine Longrigg

In this deeply educational episode of the MumSafe™ Podcast, Jen Dugard is joined by Clinical Myotherapist, educator, and creator of The C-Section Release Method, Madelaine Longrigg.

Together, they explore the physical, emotional, and often overlooked realities of C-section recovery from scar behaviour and breath restriction to adhesions, the “shelf,” and why many women struggle to reconnect with their abdominal wall after birth.

Maddie shares her journey from young PT to internationally recognised women’s health practitioner, how she rebuilt a fully booked clinical practice after relocating, and the steps she took to align herself with the right community, practitioners, and values.

This episode is essential listening for exercise professionals wanting to better understand C-section healing, support their clients with confidence, and play a stronger role in bridging the gap between fitness and women’s health care.

Highlights:

  • Maddie’s journey from personal trainer to women’s health myotherapist and educator
  • How she rebuilt a thriving practice after moving interstate with no client base
  • Why strategic community alignment and practitioner referrals matter
  • The difference between planned and emergency C-sections and why it affects scar behaviour
  • What trainers should ask during C-section pre-screening to better understand a client’s history
  • The signs a scar needs attention: pain, pulling, numbness, tightness, or a visible “shelf”
  • What a C-section “shelf” actually is and why it’s not just about weight
  • Why breathwork is the earliest and most powerful tool for C-section healing
  • Understanding trauma, dissociation, and emotional release in scar work
  • How trainers can help women create safety and reconnection through movement
  • The importance of abdominal activation immediately after scar release
  • Why mums shouldn’t “wait until after their next baby” to get scar support
  • How The C-Section Release Method is training practitioners across Australia and NZ
  • Maddie’s mission to change how women are cared for physically, emotionally, and systemically

Key Takeaway:

C-section healing is far more than a scar,  it’s a whole-body, whole-nervous-system experience. When trainers understand the nuances of scar behaviour, breath, emotional safety, and abdominal reconnection, they become powerful allies in a woman’s recovery. With the right knowledge and support, mums can reclaim strength, confidence, and autonomy in their bodies.
