This week on the Mothers of All Crime Podcast the discussion centers on an old case- Waneta Hoyt. For over 20 years Waneta Hoyt was viewed as a mother who endured the worst luck and horrific tragedies. Her five biological children all died before the age of 3 years old. Waneta and Tim lost child after child due to suspected Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The couple went on to have an unsuccessful (to say the least) adoption followed by a successful one. While there may have been family members and acquaintances with suspicions there were no police investigations for 20 years following her youngest child's demise. After an expert witness specializing in child abuse told a New York DA about a possible serial killer in his midst he began searching for more information. This would ultimately lead to an interrogation, confession and a 75 year sentence. Until her death Waneta maintained that her confession was coerced. She claimed she was innocent.
