Stop Waiting to Feel Ready — The Imperfect Action That Changes Everything (10.05.26)

OCT 5, 20265 MIN

Description

How many times have you told yourself that you'll start once you have it all figured out? Once the marketing plan is ready. Once you know exactly what to say. Once the database is organized. Once the timing feels right. This Monday motivation episode is for everyone who has been waiting on the perfect plan before making a move and spoiler: the perfect plan is not coming. This episode is built around a line from Ryan Lake that is worth writing down: "The plan gets better while you are moving, not while you are waiting." Most of us have it backwards. We believe we need to have everything figured out before we take action. But in reality, action is what creates the clarity. You don't think your way into a better listing presentation. You give the presentation, you notice what landed and what didn't, and you get better. You don't figure out the perfect video strategy before you hit record. You post the imperfect one, you watch who responds, and your next video is better for it. You never get to video number twenty if you are still planning video number one. We'll talk about why preparation, as valuable as it is, has a tipping point where it quietly becomes procrastination dressed up as productivity. One more template, one more class, one more hour of research, one more conversation about what you are going to do. At some point you have to move. We'll also get into the two things Ryan says every person in business needs right now: the courage to take the next step and the humility to improve as you go. Courage says "I'm willing to try." Humility says "I'm willing to change." That combination, applied consistently, is how real growth happens. And here's the part that tends to catch people off guard. You don't need to see the next ten steps. You just need enough courage to take the first one, because once you move, you will see things you could not see while you were standing still. That is how the plan develops. That is how confidence develops. That is how business develops. Your Monday challenge is simple. Identify one thing you have been waiting to have perfectly figured out. The YouTube channel you haven't started. The person in your database you keep meaning to call. The event you want to host. The conversation you have been avoiding. Then ask yourself one question: what is one imperfect action I can take today? Not next week. Not when the market shifts. Not when you feel more confident. Today. Progress is not plan, perfect, go. Progress is go, learn, adjust, and go again. This week, stop waiting to feel ready and take the imperfect step. Because sometimes the next step does not come from having a better plan. Sometimes taking the next step is exactly what creates one.
