When you look at the grandeur of the universe, it’s easy to feel small, but God designed you with incredible intention. In this message, Ps. Monty kicks off the series "God's Eternal Plan" by exploring how the Creator of the stars placed eternity in our hearts and created each of us on purpose. ====================== IN THE BEGINNING GOD’S ETERNAL PLAN Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without the possibility that mankind will find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. Genesis 1:1-5 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (2) The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. (3) Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. (4) And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. (5) God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day. Genesis 1:14-18 Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. (15) Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened. (16) God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. (17) God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, (18) to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 1) GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS Genesis 15:5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” Psalm 8:3-4 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, (4) what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 2) GOD CREATED THE EARTH 3) GOD CREATED HUMANS Genesis 1:27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Psalm 139:13-14 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. (14) Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. 2 Timothy 1:9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. ====================== CONNECT GROUP QUESTIONS: So many conditions have to be "just right" for life to exist on earth.
