Matthew 16:15-16 NLT Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” CALLING BEGINS WITH KNOWING JESUS Matthew 16:18 NLT Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. John 15:5 NLT "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. JESUS KNOWS OUR WEAKNESS YET STILL CALLS US TO LEAD Luke 22:31–32 NLT “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:33–34 NLT Peter said, “Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you, and even to die with you.” But Jesus said, “Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” OUR CALLING IS TO SERVE THE PEOPLE JESUS LOVES John 21:17 NLT A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.” =============== CONNECT GROUP QUESTION: Calling begins with knowing Jesus. How is your relationship with Jesus going right now? Peter denied Jesus three times yet Jesus still called him. How does that encourage you? Jesus asked Peter “do you love me?” three times. If Jesus asked you that today, how would you answer?
