S7: I got laid off...again. And I am in crutches. *STORYTIME*

Hi wonderful humans.

I took some time off podcasting this year (tbh, work was very busy, and I had lots of planning and to-dos, so creating content fell off). But – after an eventful week – and now WAY more time on my hands, I have decided to use my voice. Surprisingly, with recent life changes and unexpected news RE: health and work, I've felt more inspired...

It's story time! It feels like a reinvention period, and unlike during last year's unfortunate events in the SAME season, I AM HERE FOR IT.

Themes in This Episode:

  • Why I am not having a Hot Girl Summer
  • "When it rains it pours"
  • Dealing with last year’s layoff and lack of stability VS. 2025
  • Handling uncertainty
  • Identity and work
  • Work industry changes – marketing/creative/advertising
  • Navigating the future of work
  • Life change management tools
  • Living abroad/away from home
  • My mindset around a sudden injury
  • The role of spirituality, mindfulness, and self-talk

S7: The Downsides Of Empathy (Story time: Family Drama)

Welcome to another episode in season 7 of The Mobile Mentor pod, and an episode on a topic that's SUPER important to me: Empathy. This was brought about by some family friction this recent Christmas (because, duh!).

I chat about said family friction, how it affected me, and what I realised about myself and my defaults as a result of other people's situations and emotions. And tbh, I wasn't totally happy about it. Moving forward, I'm considering how to adapt my empathy. You'll find out why...

Themes in the episode:

-Empathy in relationships of all kinds

-The different types of empathy (there are 3!)

-Why too much empathy isn't a good thing

-Toggling empathy for the right relationships and moments

-Extending empathy to oneself

-Compassion vs. Empathy

-Childhood trauma, coping strategies, and why I am how I am

-People pleasing

-Emotional management

Been through some tough times lately? Life feel a bit out of control and you're finding it hard to cope? Settle in to this episode, I've got you.

This is part 2 to the episode, 'Handling Change is Harder in My 30s.' Here are my learnings in hindsight on getting through lots of life sectors being in flux and uncertain simultaneously – work, love life, and constantly moving around living out of a suitcase. I felt I was about to implode. However, I didn't (phew! Because I like eating peanut butter too much), thanks to these 7 golden nuggets. Take what you need – coping isn't one size fits all. x

Themes in this episode:

-Coping strategies

-Managing anxiety

-Experiencing a work layoff

-Dealing with uncertainty

-The concept of 'home'

-Long-distance relationships

-Asking for help/support when you need it

-Being forced to grow in new ways

-How change affects people – we all have different capacities

-Judging yourself for feeling certain ways, and why you shouldn't!!

-Gratitude

S7: NOT New Year's Resolutions 2025 - An Alternative Approach

Welcome to season 7 of The Mobile Mentor pod!! I thought I'd mark 2025 with a brand-new season. Thank god 2024 is over... It was a tumultuous and very fast-moving year. I am happy to move on to more pleasant, stable, and peaceful pastures.

This episode, I share how I start every new year in a softer, self-compassionate, and less strict way (I am not a fan of the old 'new year's resolutions' lark and its connotations – you'll find out why). I 'theme' every year! We've all gotta find what works for us, right? Have a listen and see what comes up for you with this approach.

Themes in this Ep:

-Words to live by (as opposed to vision boards)

-Living in your heart and body vs. living in your head

-Following your intuition

-Staying flexible as opposed to fixing goals

-Use personal reflections to inform what's ahead

-When to do this exercise

-Knowing and living by your values
